Every day our lives are full of ‘stuff’ at home, work and play.
How does it get to us?
How do we use it?
And what if we don’t need it anymore?
This website will give you answers, stories, examples and more questions, all gathered from the unique perspective of Perth, Western Australia.
(Full of snakes, sand and other ‘stuff’)
A bit about who I am:
I have always been interested in bins, rubbish and sewerage. I ‘talk rubbish’ for a job and a passion. I have lived in inner-suburban Perth for 36 years and see the challenges created by both the suburban sprawl and inner city infill. The way we choose to live, work and play in Perth and its surrounds can be either excessive or frugal. I see wonderful, interesting examples in both business and domestic ways of dealing with the wealth, climate and isolation of our state. Many people and organisations have risen to the challenge of dealing with ‘waste’ – so when we see innovation in this area, there’s great satisfaction in giving the response of: ‘that’s a good idea’, and spreading it further.
My work in rubbish has won multiple awards including the ‘Waste Champion 2011’ WA State Government, ‘Best Educational Product’ 2011 Australian Business Awards Mindarie Regional Council Tours Program, Highly Commended Mindarie Regional Council Earth Carers, Infinity Awards 2013.
